American AI Networking Company Micas Networks Expands Company-Operated Manufacturing to Scale Commercial CPO

Company-operated manufacturing and clean-room capability support one of the industry's first commercially available CPO switches, available now through Supermicro

SAN JOSE, Calif., Sept. 15, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Micas Networks, an American AI networking company headquartered in San Jose, today announced an expansion of its company-operated manufacturing operations in Malaysia to strengthen the clean-room capability, advanced system assembly, optical integration, automated test and validation required for complex AI Ethernet platforms. The expansion supports Micas’ commercially available co-packaged optics (CPO) deployments today and increases the company’s ability to move advanced optical networking systems from design into production.

"Micas is an American company built to turn advanced networking innovation into infrastructure customers can deploy," said Andrew Qu, Chief Executive Officer of Micas Networks. "Our San Jose headquarters anchors product strategy, ecosystem collaboration, and customer engagement, while our company-operated manufacturing in Malaysia gives us direct control over quality, new-product introduction, supply chain and delivery. That combination is a strategic advantage as AI infrastructure demands higher bandwidth, greater power efficiency and more tightly integrated optical systems.”

American AI networking backed by direct manufacturing control

Unlike many networking vendors that rely entirely on outsourced manufacturing, Micas operates its own manufacturing facility in Malaysia. The expansion strengthens the clean-room capability needed for CPO assembly and optical integration, alongside advanced automation, thermal validation and system-level test. By connecting engineering and manufacturing under one operating model, Micas can move advanced platforms from design and validation into production with tighter control over quality, configuration and delivery. From its San Jose headquarters, Micas leads customer engagement, ecosystem development and product strategy for global AI infrastructure markets. Its company-operated manufacturing in Malaysia extends that American technology platform with direct execution across supply-chain management, system assembly, quality, configuration, test and delivery.

Commercial CPO available for AI infrastructure deployment

The Micas M2-W6940-128X1-FR4, based on the Broadcom Tomahawk 5 Bailly platform, is one of the industry's first commercially available 51.2 Tbps CPO Ethernet switches. Developed with Broadcom and first announced for volume production on March 17, 2025, the switch integrates optical engines with the switch ASIC and delivers 128 ports of 400G FR4 connectivity. Volume production demonstrated that CPO has moved beyond laboratory innovation into a manufacturable and orderable platform.

The Micas Tomahawk 5 Bailly CPO switch is available for delivery through Supermicro as part of validated AI infrastructure configurations. In a Supermicro-validated design pairing AMD Instinct MI355X GPUs with AMD Pensando Pollara 400 AI NICs, the Micas CPO configuration was measured at approximately 38.28% lower switch power consumption than the tested pluggable-optics configuration, with the same architecture reporting lower latency and more than 4 million cumulative 400G-equivalent port-hours of link-flap-free operation in ongoing Micas testing. (Results are specific to the tested Supermicro + AMD + Micas validated configuration.)

Building American AI infrastructure leadership

"American leadership in AI infrastructure will be measured by the ability to execute, not only to invent," added Qu. "Micas is building both: advanced networking technology led from San Jose and the directly controlled manufacturing capability required to deliver it globally."
